Silent Hill?

I just watched Silent Hill, WTF?!! What happened at the end that Rose and Sharon were in a parallel universe? a separate world? than Chris?? Why couldn't they see each other? He sensed them. I know the same thing happened while they were in the school in Silent Hill, but that made sense to me. But once they left, why weren't things set right? I'm confused. so now does this mean they won't ever see each other again? Are Rose and Sharon the only two people in the world that they are stuck in?? What the heck....
