I'm trying to figure out how the Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck is both a masculine and feminine novels. I'm getting an idea on how to do the feminine side because I read more details on Ma, Rose of Sharon and the role women played during the depression, but I didn't really see any for the men. any ideas? thanks in advance.
Two sides to the Grapes of Wrath?
How about how the men felt emasculated because they were unable to provide for their womenfolk? I mean, because of there being so little work available. Most of the men lost their place as the head of the family because they couldn't take care of their families anymore, like Pa Joad.
