my dads going to put a fence in after he takes oldone down and there are lotts of roots from rose of sharon trees ;we were going to get a small back hoe but are worrying if itll mess up the grass bad ;so are there any other power type tools that could be used?
Whats the tool for;?
Maybe a trencher. It looks somewhat like a big chain saw and digs ........a trench. They will rip through roots, but it's a good idea for the shrub that one then takes a pruning saw or lopper and make clean cuts on the roots to minimze infection from setting into the plant.
As far as the post holes, there's a post hole digger......a giant corkscrew that digs out the hole.....it take two people to hold most models....there's a one person model also availabe.
All of the above are available at rental shops.
As for the backhoe idea.......maybe a Bobcat would work better. If plywood wasn't so darn expensive, you could put 3/4 inch plywood down and drive over that instead of ripping up the lawn.
Reply:you can find a small excavator with a rubber track instead of wheels. might not be as bad on the lawn...
Reply:iuse the back hoe u can always replace the grass
