How do I get rid of pesky picker bushes?

I have these "picker bushes" that pop up in my yard every year. The yard wasn't properly maintained for almost 20 years. Someone told me that they are rose of sharon plants....I don't think so! I tried digging them up and pulling them out last spring...but they are back again! HELP!!!!

How do I get rid of pesky picker bushes?
If they have been there for a long time the root system will be very deep. You may have to get a back hoe to dig them out %26amp; get all of the root system.
Reply:Some times boiling hot water will kill some undeseriable plants. Some chemicals will kill desirable plants along with the weeds.
Reply:Do they have wood stems or are they really weeds? If they are weeds I can think of a couple of types they could be and they are impossible to get rid of unless you are on them 24/7. Weed killer works only on the plant but if its at least one I know of that goes to seed or one that has root trails its not so easy. You might have to dig up your whole section of yard and replace all the ground up to a foot or more to get rid of them.

Been there done that.
Reply:round up works great!
Reply:Rose of Sharon are beautiful bushes and you might want to keep them. I know Hostas are a real pain at getting rid of and I always have to dig the whole root out. If this is a flowering plant sometimes the flowers will blow and the seeds replant themselves wherever they landed, which is common in Rose of Sharon. I would take a sample to my Gardening Nursery, ask them what it is, and how to get rid of it permanently.
Reply:Try weed and feed. Once in the spring and once in the fall. If they are weeks this will kill it.
Reply:gasoline..... then put a match to it.. that should do it lol then did out the rest
Reply:expect a lot of works then
Reply:The plant is probably left over pacysandra. Pull out the plants and then mulch the beds heavily. But be prepared to to continue plucking little sprouts.
