Can rose of sharon seeds be planted now for next year or should they be started inside before Spring?

Don't know if its better to plant SEEDS now or wait until Spring to plant?

Actually I never PLANT a seed, they plant themselves, overwinter and drive me NUTS in the spring! I spend most of the summer pulling Rose of Sharon seedlings out of one side of a yard!
Reply:I have had exellent luck starting the seeds indoors in later Jan to early Feb and then transplanting outside in the spring.
Reply:You can also start cuttings in water.
Reply:Truthfully, where I live, seedlings are everywhere underneath the trees at parks, in neighbors' gardens, etc. so I get my starts from there. If you really want to start from seed, start in the spring; as the amount of light diminishes naturally in the fall, the seedlings will reach for the light and become leggy and unhealthy.
